Building Good Credit
Watch Out for Weekends and Holidays
Recent credit legislation (The Credit CARD Act) says that if your credit card payment due date falls on a weekend or a holiday, you can pay your bill on the next business day without incurring a late charge (or a possible ding to your credit rating.) If the credit card company has a branch open on a holiday however, they can charge the fee, even if that bank is not in your town. To ensure you aren’t charged a late fee or have your credit dinged, make sure you pay several days in advance of the due date then you’ll never have to worry.
